Where We All Started

Yesterday we went down to visit my mother and install a new air-conditioner for her. On the way back we stopped in at Lake Clifton to see the thrombolites. They’re just like stromatolites — they’re the reason we’re here today: they populated the Earth with oxygen billions of years ago which meant that life, including humans, could evolve into existence.

Or maybe they’re just part of the Intelligent Design thing, I’m not sure.
